<title>Dolly handle detail that can help to prevent a lockout</title>

<p class="BN">Recently one pilot taking off in perfect conditions (wind aligned 
with the cart 15Km/h), inadvertently did not drop the left handle of the Dolly, 
causing a lookout, fortunately without major consequences (although it was a 
hard landing).</p>
<p class="BN">The main cause was the way he was holding the handle of the dolly. The pilot was 
holding the handle with two fingers but in addition, the handle was being held 
by the palm of the hand (shown in red) which caused to hold it long enough to 
lower the left wing.</p>

<p class="BN">So, I suggest holding the handle underneath the bar (shown in green), so that 
when you open your fingers, you loosen both handles simultaneously.</p>
<p>Personally I hold on with a lot more than two fingers on both 
hands, but the hose is below my base tube.</p>

<title>Getting ready for a world record flight</title>

<p>The flight

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.livetrack24.com/track/241850/2d">here</a>.</p><p>Chris Zimmerman and I took a little warm up flight from his home in Georgetown, 
Texas knowing that we wouldn't be setting a record given the forecasted weather 
to the north of Houston. We're both on Wills Wing Falcon 4 195's, big gliders, 
great for staying up in weak lift and drifting down wind. We had a 15 mph tail 
wind.</p><p>We also flew a bit on Sunday, but I got off low (600' AGL) on both of my tows 
and didn't get any where. Chris found 700 fpm and got up high. Mike Degtoff, our 
tow pilot, sternly told me to stay on next time. He also wanted me to stay on 
the cart longer so that he could get the light weight trike off the ground.</p><p>So I was first off on Monday and sure enough at 700' (I stayed on a little bit 
longer) I pinned off in good lift. Mike knew it was good also and joined me to 
show it was good and to encourage me to stay in it. I also pulled the cart way 
off the ground trying to stay low behind Mike.</p><p>Protowing Falcon 4 195's behind a low power trike is quite an experience. Mike 
was flying at 40 mph and I had the bar absolutely stuffed, which I'll tell you 
is not easily done on this glider. Chris, in addition, had his knees up at the 
bar that he was stuffing when he was towing.</p><p>There were plenty of cu's in the neighborhood, unlike the big sink hole that we 
were in on Sunday. I climbed to 3,100' AGL off of tow. Chris was just behind me 
and climbing.</p><p>We connected the dots north before getting low and beat up from devils in the 
grass southwest of Temple. I wasn't in contact on the radio with Chris so I 
couldn't tell him to keep far to the east so there we were heading toward the 
lakes.&nbsp; Thankfully we got up and got out of there. I didn't find the next 
thermal back to the east so landed north of Belton.</p><p>Now we wait for the weather to turn. The summer solstice isn't here yet.</p>
