Get a better video by moving the camera around37.479217,-75.901794,9114+Bayford+Road+Weirwood,+VA+23413(9114 Bayford Road Weirwood, VA 23413)

These little GoProWide cameras kinda rock. I was playing with a new mount for it yesterday down at Campbell Field (that new flight park in VA). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOC8BGB3NPw

Here's some pictures of the mount itself.

I used the standard helmet mount quick release and sewed it to an armband. As it's plastic, I drilled a few holes in it for the thread. Then I replaced the stock mounting bolt with a longer generic one so I could bolt the camera to the tripod leg.

The tripod is a Philips P44208B, but it's been discontinued. The Ambico V-0640 Fashion Tripod - V0640 looks to be the same telescoping legs. (Hard to find as well)

It's the telescoping legs that are important, they work like an umbrella handle, they pull out and "lock" in place by pressure, not flippy lock rings. So when you want to extend or retract it, you just push a bit harder.

Perfect system Jim !!!! Well done.
The views from behind and below are amazing !!!

Could you please tell us :
- what size is the stick,
- which GoPro model do you have,
- How long last the batteries
- How long last the full HQ video if it stays on "record" the whole time ?

Many thanks and best regards.
Nico

PS: Jim, I've put a link of your video and the translation of your text on my fench website (link below)

No problem… share it with as many as you like.

It's a GoPro Hero Wide camera.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/582888-REG/GoPro_GWH5170_Wide_HERO_Digital_Camera.html

I have good rechargeable batteries in it. I'll put up specifics later (I don't have them on me right now).
I've not run it long enough to run out the batteries yet. I charge them between flights so far.

The "stick" is a Philips P44208B tripod leg
It's 3.3 feet long (40 inches)

The video will record for 56 minutes.
There is only one video quality setting (that I know), so it's always "high quality".

Yeah, I love the shots from below too.

Jim, maybe he meant memory stick size. They come out with 2G (not incl) but apparently 4G card is in the making.

Then again maybe he did mean that stick. Wink

I'm happy with my Go pro. Really ideal for closeup shots with the wide angle. I mount mine on the wing sometimes but find it would be a little too far (from subject) for good quality.

If at first you don't succeed, lower your standards.

Ha… yeah… prob meant the card… sorry.
Yup, 2gig
And mine is really strict about the 2gig thing… I have one that's just over 2 and it won't work.

I've heard rumors of the 4gig… you heard anything more?

It wouldn't matter.
The batteries would be flat long before you got anywhere near 32gig… that'd be 15 hours of footage Wink
