USHPA Governance Proposal
PG|USHPA
Martin Palmaz, Executive Director, #40148 (H-1, P-4), United States Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association, Inc. writes:
USHPA members, please vote between January 7 and February 21, 2019 on whether to restructure USHPA's board of directors according to the proposal put forth by the strategic planning committee.
The current board consists of 26 regional and at-large directors from 12 regions. The proposal would reduce the board size to 10 nationally elected directors from 5 regions with the goal of making the board more efficient, innovative, and effective. The proposal also includes diversity criteria to ensure that, as much as possible, all regions, wing types, genders, and age groups would be represented on the smaller board.
There’s a lot more. The USHPA website has just been updated with information on the final version of the proposal and the upcoming membership vote. Please visit this page for details, and come back again as more will be added: https://www.ushpa.org/member/governance-proposal-2018. The page includes a summary list of arguments for and against the proposal, a link to full opinions written by current directors and committee chairs, all the member feedback that was collected over the summer on a previous version (feedback that was responded to into the final version), and more.
All current USHPA members (as of December 31st) will receive postcards in January with information on how to vote. Voting online is encouraged, and paper ballots will also be available. This is an important moment for your organization. Not passing this initiative is just as big a decision as passing it. Your vote matters. Please inform yourself fully and PLEASE VOTE!
