Join Vuelo Libre méxico for their 6th annual El Peñón Classic Race, back again this year in everyone’s favorite thermal heaven, Valle de Bravo, méxico. This FAI Sport Class sanctioned event will see a wide variety of pilots flocking to enjoy the famously idyllic conditions, and challenging XC tasks. Pilots will be able to enjoy two practice and seminar days, before entering into five competition days with tasks that could range from 40km to 70km, and wrapping up on the last day with closing ceremonies.
For those who haven’t visited this magical spot, incredibly, every day is flyable, offering plentiful thermals and convergence lift. Valle de Bravo itself is a gorgeous little lakeside town with plenty of activities, and top notch restaurants and bars to enjoy a victory mescal, or recharge after a long day of flying.
The competition meet director this year is master rated pilot, and advanced instructor, Mitch Shipley, well known on the comp circuit as supporting a fun, organized, and safe event.
A landing clinic with Mitch will also be scheduled before the event for those interested in brushing up on on this most crucial skill to safe flight.
The competition fee of $100 USD includes score keeping, competition director, t-shirt, ambulance, task and briefing, water and shaded area at take off, dinner party, and prize giving ceremony in the landing zone on the last day.
