Antennas - let us hear from you

Antennas

My little niche market of antennas that make sense to pilots 43.184073,-111.050384,Cowboy+Up+s+operation+at+Alpine,+WY,+USA(Cowboy Up s operation at Alpine, WY, USA)

A few months ago I opened my little Oz Report store because I saw that there were hang gliding products that I used and was enthusiastic about, that you just couldn't buy (you had to make them yourself) or were only available in one locale.  I figured I could take a few evenings to make just a few unique little products or get them made by people that I knew personally and trusted and make them available world wide, without risking the farm, or taking up more than a cubic foot in the cramped Oz Report world headquarters.

So far so good.  Many of you have found value in these products.  I wasn't sure at first that anyone would respond, so I've really appreciated those of you who have sent in a few bucks to purchase what I sell.

I make the antennas myself.  I make about ten at a time while sitting at the computer (I'm making ten right now).  They have been a big seller for me.  I've sold about fifty and I'll soon have to order more cables in order to turn them into antennas.

Pilots have written to tell me how much their radio contact has improved now that they are using one of my antennas.  Before their transmissions were only going a little ways or were cut out as they thermalled, when their rubber ducky was blocked by their body.  Now they can call their retrieve vehicle from over fifty miles away.

The antennas are designed and built to last a long time.  For example, they come with a molded connector.

Recently I have provided (for a mere $20/each) antennas to Zippy and Jeff O'Brien, hoping to get every member of the 2008 US National Flex Wing team to be able to be heard clearly by every other member.  We are flying as a team (and did so in France at the pre-Worlds) and we will be flying as a team in 2009 in preparation for the Worlds in France.  Communication will be the first order of the day.

So, if you are looking to improve your ability to get retrieved and to get better help from your team mates and fellow pilots, check out the Oz Report quarter wave antennas here.
