Recreation

<Jeff Hunt> writes:

You're welcome at the 7th annual Texas Open and World Recreational Encampment (WRE Leakey) brought to you by the Frio River Landing, Sam Kellner, FlyTec/Quest aerotowing and various Texans.

What's at Leakey?  Well, a foot launch site and county airport for flying and aerotowing in the beautiful Texas Hill Country with hospitality and great soaring conditions.  Foot launch paragliders and hang gliders, surface tow paragliders and find bountiful aerotowing opportunities and tandem flying with hang gliders.  This year's Texas distance record stands at 152 miles from the foot launch.

What else is there besides the flying?  The New York Times listed the 10 most practical vacation destinations last week.  Top of the list was the Texas Hill Country!!!  There is the Frio River, a clear, spring fed river for floating or rope swings.  Scenic hills and good eating, find out why Texas BBQ is famous.

Your entry fee also supports the improvements and maintenance of a grass strip (the 4000' paved strip needs no mowing) as well as a new access road and LZ for the foot launch site.

July 25-27 plus a few days on either side are possible.  Come on down to the place between Zapata and Big Spring and enjoy Texas flying.
