Go ahead and register at CIVL for WPRS points
WPRS
There is no harm and good benefits from registering at the CIVL web site in your WPRS database
http://civlrankings.fai.org/?a=308
CIVL keeps track of you in their database using your CIVL_ID number. Meets will start using your CIVL_ID number when they register you. This goes for anyone who wants to get WPRS ranking points, or who wants a meet to count more for those pilots that do care about their World Ranking or want to get into a Category 1 competition (which requires finishing in the top two thirds of all the participants with FAI Sporting Licenses in a Category 2 meet.
CIVL doesn't know whether you have an FAI Sporting License (which is issued by the country that you are flying for, not the FAI) or not or whether it is current or not. Maybe they will in the future, but I doubt it (as it is too hard to keep track of this). The CIVL_ID is not dependent on you having an FAI Sporting License and is really independent of it.
Your CIVL_ID is easy to get (go to the URL above) and it will be easy to get it worked out. Help out your fellow pilots. You'll find me here: http://civlrankings.fai.org/?a=309&person_id=6143
Once you have a CIVL_ID, you can update yourself here: http://goflyxc.com/ if you are going to the Santa Cruz Flats Race and add your FAI Sporting License number and your CIVL_ID. Click My Account and Edit and Not Used and Flying Experience. For the women's and rigid wing worlds, this page: http://www.cucco08.org/reg_pilot4.php will be updated to include CIVL_ID.
Meet organizers will want to include fields for FAI Sporting License number and CIVL_ID in their registration forms, as these will be used by CIVL when you report your results to them.
