SeeYou hang gliding scoring program tested/updated again
FsComp and SeeYou got tested and upgraded at the Dalby Big Air
(Dalby Airport)
http://ozreport.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11221
I used both my SeeYou based OzGAP 2005 program and FsComp to score the Dalby Big Air. As the scorekeeper I had the time and ability to run both scoring programs at the same time (using SeeYou to download all the GPSes) and see what, if any, bugs I could find.
Stein and I were able to spot minor bugs in both programs which were fixed on the spot (and didn't affect earlier uses of my SeeYou program). The bug had to do with the time validity on a day that no one made goal. As long at the longest flight for the day was longer than the nominal distance than the time validity was equal to one (which earlier versions of my program set it to in this circumstance).

USHPA and the Free Flight Foundation
Matching funds to $30,000/year limit
(USHPA headquarters)
http://foundationforfreeflight.org/
The Free Flight Foundation has a little deal with the USHPA. If the BOD members of the FFF raise money for the foundation, the USHPA is committed to matching the funds raised. I wonder if they do or have done any fund raising, as they don't report any.
At the latest USHPA BOD meeting, the BOD put a limit on this fund matching at $30,000/year where before it was not limited at all.

NTSS
(This topic is in: Mar.24 May 23'06 May 12'06 Aug.15'05 --> )
New ranking soon
(USHPA headquarters)
Chris Smith <chris> writes:
I know everyone is anxious to see an NTSS update - my apologies for the delay. Getting settled in LA and work have gotten the best of my time lately (and I have been a little lazy) but I intend to have the update complete by next Friday – good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise.
I need to make a few corrections to the 2008 interim before creating a new sheet for the 2009 ranking. I will have to have the creator of the Excel sheet help me migrate from 2008 to 2009.
Comps that still need to be added: Forbes, Bogong, and NSW State Titles.

Thank goodness we are not an Olympic sport
So we can keep WADA out of it
Floyd Landis wrote (in the past):
Because cycling is an Olympic sport, while the Olympics does very little for cycling, we are subject to WADA. The problem comes from the fact that mutually, cycling and the Olympics do very little for each other. Therefore it is the perfect whipping boy for Dick Pound who makes it clear that he cares very little about the reputation of the sport and because it is big enough to get publicity but not wealthy enough to make him go away, he makes it one of a few which he would destroy for his agenda. Furthermore to that end, he and WADA have no financial interest in the sport progressing, so why be reasonable, since the more positive tests they can produce (at any cost) the more credibility they gain. The sport needs to leave the Olympics if it will ever become self governed and make wise business decisions from every aspect, not doping alone.

A flash from the past
Windows ME
http://www.infoworld.com/articles/op/xml/00/10/16/001016oplivingston.html
Scare was looking around the internet
I'VE JUST LEARNED that my Windows Me Secrets co-author, Davis Straub, recently set a new world record for miles flown in a hang glider. Smashing the 10-year-old record of 308 miles, he launched his glider from Zapata County, Texas, and landed 347 miles later (as the co-author flies) in Sterling County, Texas. The details of his adventure can be read at http://davisstraub.com/OZ/Ozv4n155.htm.
