A more rigorous polar for the Wills Wing T2C 144
I was able to hold the air speeds for longer periods
(Quest Air, Groveland, Florida, USA)
Last polar: http://ozreport.com/12.093
This morning Lisa Kain pulled me up a few minutes after sunrise. I held on to over 5,600'. The wind was 5 to 10 mph out of the north, and zero on the ground.
This is the polar automatically created from the data that I took from the flight:
Click on above for the high resolution version.
Find the filtered and corrected data here.
Find the bare IGC track log here.
A review of the IGC track log shows that I was able to hold air speeds for reasonable periods of time.

Once again with wheels
It all came crashing down
(Saint Andre Les Alpes, France)
Mark Taggart <Mark.Taggart> writes:
In my bid to convert the world.
Last July, I broke my arm crash landing. Nine month on, I got my first flight back on the hang glider and took a little cross country here in St Andre. Great take-off and even better landing in the new official cross country LZ at “La Mure” which is peachy smooth.
The confidence wheels gave to my little cross country flight was positive. My old (minor) fears of landing out all gone.
I should have been flying with wheels years ago... This past 9 months have been a real pain. I now have a banana shaped arm, less than perfect motion and some ripping scars and a plate that's still got to come out.
My landings were always top notch. St Andre can be challenging - not even a bent upright here in five years. Then there is that freak incident that hits us all once in a blue moon. On the day, my mate Colin coasted in on his base bar with wheels, while I whacked in and took the trip to hospital.
Fellas, it simply is not worth the lost flying time, agro, pain and cost.

Pull the spacer
Get your head down
Bernard Winkelmann <bernard> writes:
I found this out from Brett when I told him about my troubles getting head down in my harness when it is full of gear (pack up materials).
There is a spacer on the slider that prevents the slider from going all the way back. This is how it comes stock. If you take out that spacer, it moves your CG slightly forward so that it is much easier to pitch up and down. It does not affect how "catchy" the rope is and will hold position just as well as it did before the adjustment.
This is especially useful at the end of the day when you arms are tired. Makes getting more head down for the final glide a lot easier.

Drying Up
The climate changes
(Trenton, GA, USA)
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24373612/
Australia's government plans to spend about $2.9 billion to buy river water from farmers in a bid to address the country's worst drought in a century.
The spending is the most expensive component of a $12.1 billion, 10-year plan to reduce water waste and improve water efficiency on Australian farms and in cities.
"Climate change means most Australian cities and towns have less water and we can no longer rely on local rainfall to supply all our drinking water," Minister for Climate Change and Water Penny Wong said in a statement Tuesday.

TRENTON, Ga. - Residents of Dade County have spent much of their history feeling ignored by the rest the state. ... But the county of 16,000 is finally getting some attention thanks to a historic drought — and the fact that it's the only part of Georgia that's a stone's throw from the massive Tennessee River.
The county's main industry is manufacturing, and it is home to a growing number of retirees and hang gliders who seek the fresh mountain air and sweeping vistas.

Air Games
Lots of Loops
(Oppenau, Germany)
Andy <andy> editor Schlechtflieger MAGAZIN writes:
Alex Neuhaus did 104 Loops with a Swift Light on the BaWue Airgames (www.bawue-airgames.de) last Weekend! Felix Rodriguez tried to beat Chrigel Maurer's Infinity Tumbling Record (155), but had to stop after No. 149 because he was too low.
Several thousand visitors came to see the shows. Hang gliding was represented trough the Swift and the AIR Crew with their VR's.

Mini Barrel Releases back in stock
I sold out at the Santa Cruz Flats Race
(Quest Air, Groveland, Florida, USA)
My mini barrel release and thin Spectra or Vectran bridle systems are now back in stock. I got Bob Lane out to Quest today to make up a batch and he'll be out again next week to do another batch.
You can order these especially made, low drag, low hassle bridles here. Along with my super cool extended distance 2m antennas. Unfortunately, I've sold out of the self locking carabineers.
