Bogong Cup - the last day
Bogong's last day
Blown out, a new record set?
(Emu launch)
I mentioned yesterday that it was hot in the afternoon and that I
thought that this might lead to over development. Well, within a few hours it
was over developed and raining a little bit on and off by 4:50 PM. The rain was
just here at the south end of the Kiewa valley and near Bright, Mystic Hill.
But the sun was soon back out again with heavy rains over the bush fire areas.
Today, the rain approached slowly from the west. The morning started with a few
holes of blue in the mottled sky gradually turning bluer later in the morning. The north winds high in the mountains were 70 km/h, but it was quiet in the
valley early.
The winds came down around 11 AM to the valley and the day was called off.
The 2007 Bogong Cup ended with one task flown. Lukas Bader beating Jeff O'Brien
by, what is it, three seconds. Is this a record for a major CIVL-sanctioned
Category 2 competition? One out of eight possible tasks? Ooh, how we missed
those possible days when we might have flown and done a task after all. They
seem to be such a waste now.
And with the low pressure just sitting there day after day in the Northern
Territories pining off moisture over us while the weather continued to look good
in Manilla.
The next competition is in Manilla, the NSW Titles, February 4th, and I'll be
there to fly in it and report on it. Monica Barrett is the meet organizer.
