The VQ has completed DHV testing and they are doing the final gear-up for serial production. Christoph is now telling me late August for delivery. Hes also telling me that the glider is performing very well. The weight out of the tail and wing tips has made turning crisper and landing is better than either the VX or VR a good surprise.

Helmet Sale
Just Fly puts their helmets on sale
G. W. Meadows <gw> writes:
For the first time in it's fifteen year history, Just Fly Aviation Gear is holding a SALE! We got to looking at our stock and realized that we have a lot of things in stock that are mismatched and discontinued. While thinking about how to put them out there for sale - we decided to have a SALE on every item in stock. This is a true CLEARANCE sale and we'll clear the shelves before we restock.
Over the years, Icaro (the producer of the helmets we sell) has created many models of helmets and discontinued a number of models - as well as improved other models. What this has left us with is a lot of helmets that don't fit into our current lineup of models. A rare opportunity is at hand in that this SALE comes during the flying season - so customers can take advantage of these low prices today and be using the product in no time. Go to www.justfly.com
Sale is only on current inventory and does not apply to past purchases or future stock. Internet purchases only.

Chelan Cross Country Classic
(This topic is in: <- Jul.2'08 Jul.11 Jul.9 Jul.5 May 23 --> )
101 mile paraglider flight
(Chelan Butte, WA)
Darren Darsey <<darrendarsey>> writes:
We had a good turn out for the Chelan Classic this year with approximately forty five pilots competing and great flying weather every day of the competition. Large tasks were flown by pilots in all the classes. Several hang glider pilots set personal bests of over 100 miles and James Thompson, a paraglider pilot, had a great 101 mile flight the last day of the comp.
This year we tried grouping the three rigid wing pilots we usually have every year in with the topless flex wings, along with a handicap. The points grouping was fairly tight but the rigids still took the top three spots (all are exceptional pilots with many years experience at the Butte). The top flex wing pilot came in less than 5 miles behind for the combined four days. The general feedback was that the pilots would rather have separate classes rather than a combined class and handicap so we'll probably return to the traditional format next year.

Ballooning across Oregon
Sitting back in your lawn chair
(Bend, Oregon)
BEND, Ore. - Last weekend, Kent Couch settled down in his lawn chair with some snacks and a parachute. Attached to his lawn chair were 105 large helium balloons.
Destination: Idaho.
With instruments to measure his altitude and speed, a global positioning system device in his pocket, and about four plastic bags holding five gallons of water each to act as ballast he could turn a spigot, release water and rise Couch headed into the Oregon sky.
Thanks to Dave and Ron
