If the world just doesn't look good enough for you
The very popular Rodeo from Blueye are now available with Rose
lenses. The rose lenses are the most popular color among pilots because they
posses exceptional cloud defining characteristics. Learn more at

Things are going to change around Sequatchie Valley this year.
Ollie had gotten used to riding herd on everyone there in his VX ‘mother ship’.
Now Steve and Kathy Lee, two of the very best Tennessee pilots, both have new
ATOS’s coming!
Additionally, I will have several ‘slightly’ used ATOS VR’s after the Florida
Class 5 Worlds Meet. I have a short list of pilots that will have an opportunity
to buy them at some savings. Other interested pilots or their Dealers can
contact me the numbers below
The trials took place at the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, USA. Two aircraft were flown for four and a half and six hours
respectively, the maximum flight times permitted under range restrictions. The
maximum altitude attained was 27,000 feet above sea level.
The ultra-light aircraft is solar-electric powered, autonomous and is designed
to fly at altitudes as high as 132,000ft (25 miles/40km), above normal
commercial air-lanes and most weather. The platform is capable of continuous
operation through the use of solar power and low drag aerodynamics. The
combination of solar panels on the upper wing surface and rechargeable batteries
allows Zephyr to be flown for durations of many weeks and even months. United
Solar Ovonic’s lightweight solar cells have been incorporated into the Zephyr
which is powered by approximately 1 kW of United Solar’s lightweight thin film
PV.
The above is a column from The Sunday Times (of London) from Andrew Sullivan

and it discusses the importance of cartoons (in this case South Park) in
maintaining a proper disrespect for our "betters."
A free society survives partly because the powerful are mocked,
and their pretensions undermined. Religions, which guard their own illusions
carefully, are particularly ripe for satire. And they should be.

Angelo D'Arrigo, who was the hang glider pilot of Everest fame
with RMH, died this morning in an aircraft crash. The news comes from a fellow
pilot based in Italy and I have no links to reports at this time. This guy was a
hero of hang gliding and I am sure many will be very saddened by this news.
Bo flew his Aeros Combat to Fort Pierce on the east coast and Stan
Roberts, launching last, got to Sebring.
Today was blue, cold (high temperature of 65 degrees) and windy, out of the
west, northwest. See
here. Bo was first off, following after 2 PM by Russell and Campbell. Stan
was a good half an hour later after falling down on his first launch.
This is the first time for a flight from Quest to the Florida Ridge. Bo did it
the other way two years ago.
Dr. Jack's wind cast showed quite a bit of west in the winds up here, but they
became more southerly as you went south. The height of the lift was to 5,000' in
the forecast.
I don't like flying in the cold, so I didn't go with these guys. Should have
taken the Falcon 1.
Campbell Bowen was flying an AIR ATOS VX, Russell Brown, an AIR ATOS VR, and
Stan a Aeros Phantom.
Campbell sounded so happy and Russell was cackling during the
whole phone conversation. :)
Our guys are stoked for the upcoming Flytec and Worlds meets at Quest. Russell
(ATOS VR) and Campbell (ATOS VX) worked a long way crosswind straight south,
then turned on a 25-mile final glide into Florida Ridge, breaking down after the
dark.
Bo (Combat L) jipped them out of dinner in LaBelle by working straight southeast
until he couldn't go any further; he's dining with friends waiting for their
retrieval.
Stan "The Musician" Roberts didn't stick on his first tow, but quickly
re-launched and flew his happy self to Sebring. The drought has made for a
crackin' good season already. With weather like this, why sit around eating
lunch?
