The 18th FAI European Hang Gliding Championships will be held in the city of Kayseri (Turkey) in 2012; therefore, we will have the practice event this year!
The Pre-Europeans is a Category 2 event open to everyone!
Kayseri is a mayor city of one million inhabitants making it one of Turkey's oldest and most historic cities. It has an international airport (ASR) and, if you contact us beforehand, we can help you with your glider's transport.
The World Basketball Championship was held here in 2010!
The Pre-European Championships will be from the 4th to the 10th of September, 2011. It is an excellent region for flying cross country and our organization team has a lot of experience in paragliding competitions achieving a very important position in that world. We’ve hosted the 2003 and 2006 Pre-PWC’s, the 2004 and 2007 PWC’s, the 2008 and 2009 Turkish Paragliding Championship. We are looking forward to hosting even bigger Hang Gliding events and improve the work we’ve done in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Turkish Hang Gliding Championships.
We are organizing the European Championships because we’d like to promote this area, the sport and have new people come to fly with us! After the competition, we are sure hang gliding will be very popular around here. For the period of the competition the Organisation will provide free accommodation for pilots in a nice dorm-type facility. If you’d prefer to stay somewhere else, there are plenty of fine hotels in Kayseri to stay in! You can find this information as well as the Local Regulations, the Program and more technical details at www.outdoorfestival.org, which will be updated regularly. During the competition, results and activities will also be published at the same website.
Register directly at http://www.outdoorfestival.org/2011reg.php.
We hope to see many of you come visit and fly with us in Kayseri and look forward to assisting you in every way we can!
Our staff will be happy to see you here in Kayseri.

Aerotowing cart for launching with a tail

One month ago we read about Jochen's experience with aerotowing with a cart and launching with a tail. I don't have any experience with launching with a tail from a normal dolly's because I'm not crazy enough to try it. Perhaps it works one hundred times but what when it doesn't? Our club built a wider cradle with only a thin channel and it works fine. I hope these solution helps all other pilots with tails.

The World Record Encampment - Tuesday
Tue, Jun 28 2011, 5:08:33 pm CDTGary Osoba|Lawrence "Pete" Lehmann|Pete Lehmann|record|World Record Encampment 2011
With a forecast for east winds, no one was ready to head north of such a day. That didn't mean that the conditions here weren't excellent for flying, and Pete Lehmann, BJ Herring and Gary Osoba did go flying while the Brazilians went to Laredo.
The cu's were present only here in south Texas and along the coast. The winds were east below 10 mph in the morning. The winds increased in strength in the afternoon with strong east gusts.
